As part of the learning material being prepared for the Award in Sports Coaching (MQF/EQF level 6), CoachEd6 is working on what is being called ‘Coaches’ Interviews Series’. This is a video recorded Series that the international partners are working on, and which series of interviews will be used as learning material during the Award itself. As part of the Blended Learning project, learners will have the opportunity and will be requested to follow these interviews with international coaches, in which these coaches will be discussing important coaching topics, including but not limited to:
- Coaches’ Roles and Responsibilities
- The Amateur to Professional Continuum
- Coaching Domains
- Coaching Philosophy
Dr Andreas Kuttel, CoachEd6 partner coordinator from the University of Southern Denmark has this week done an interesting interview with Werner Schuster, a coach who has been working as head coach in Germany since 2009. Among the biggest successes of the German ski jumpers during this period of time are the Olympic gold medals with the team 2014 in Sochi (RUS) and of Andreas Wellinger 2018 in PyeongChang, as well as World Championship titles with the team and of Severin Freund and the overall World Cup title of Severin Freund in the 2014/15 season.
Dr Renzo Kerr Cumbo (MCAST) had the opportunity to hold a 60-minute interview with Karl Izzo, Team Head Coach of the National Teams of the Malta Waterpolo. Mr Izzo needs no introduction in the context of sports coaching in Malta, winning the coach of the year 2015 and 2020, Izzo has managed to get the Waterpolo National Team qualifying for the Finals of the European Championships for three times. Under his helm of Izzo, the Under 17 National team managed to qualify for the Finals of the European Championships as well. In 2019, Izzo’s boys achieved the country’s most prestigious result in a continental final when placing 12th at the European Championship finals.
